Bio :
My inspiration comes from a wide range of sources, including pieces already produced in my studio; however, the driving force for me lies in the joy, freedom and excitement I derive from working with recycled materials. For me, recycling is about not wasting precious resources, such as news print, magazines, used card and plastic, and found objects, such as abandoned feathers, fallen leaves, in fact anything that I can put through my printing press!
Such recycled and reclaimed objects and materials are at the heart of my artwork, which involves mixed media, free arm motion embroidery, hand stitching, collage work and collographic printing.
Much of my work draws upon my personal experiences as a nurse, Midwife, wife, mother and now Grandmother. There is also the crucial fact that my day to day existence is lived out within the cityscape of Birmingham, whilst I yearn to experience the physicality and immediacy of the countryside and, for this reason, you will observe the strong presence of landscapes and the natural world in much of this body of work.
