My name is Bridgit. I was born and bred in South Africa. Some of my young life was spent learning beadwork from various talented Zulu and Ndebele women. I have always been attracted to the beauty and skill of African beadwork. It is so much more raw and bright than the European styles. My beading education was cut short, in Africa, for various reasons. I have spent the last number of years, using what I had been taught, along with, a huge amount of practise to refine my wall hangings and jewellery. Each piece takes about 4 weeks to design, weave and stitch. They are truly a labour of love and memory, yet allowing my new British home to influence my choices in design and colour. The magical journey of creation and colour is balm to my soul and I try to create pieces that I would never tire of looking at. I hope you enjoy them too.
