Alison Jackson is a self-taught artist, mainly working within the context of Art Dolls. She uses fabrics, clays and wood to create gothic and whimsical art.
Ever since Alison was a child, she has been fascinated by a land where fairies are just out of sight; strange Gothic creatures do exist; and wonders can abound. These creatures come into her head and ask to be born into the world we know. What starts out as a quiet yearning soon becomes an essential need to give these creatures a body and therefore a sense of reality. These dolls are made for art collectors who are looking for the unusual, things that are unique. Each doll is a one off. To own one of her dolls is to feel a sense of charm, with your own little piece of wonderland. They bring a smile each time you pass by and reach out and re-arrange a hand or tilt a head.
Alison Jackson’s dolls are quaint and unusual with a sentimental feel that evoke joy and enchantment. They are whimsical treasures, sometimes cute and sometimes not so.
Alison will be holding a small number of pre-booked workshops, during Open Studios, allowing you the chance to make your own porcelain face that can once fired by used for a necklace or brooch.
