Birmingham Open Studios CIC are a winner at the We Are Creative Awards!
On Saturday evening, Owen de Visser, our founder & producer got all dressed up to represent Birmingham Open Studios CIC, as we were a nominated finalist in 2 categories: ‘Best Original Exhibition’ and ‘Best Social Media Campaign’.
Held at Eastside Rooms, the large space was brimming with local creative talent; writers, presenters, dancers, artists, marketing gurus, and much more. There were 21 awards up for grabs, and a host of ‘who’s who’ all dressed to impress, in the hope of bagging an accolade.
The We Are Creative Awards are the newest awards created by B Events, the people behind The Birmingham Awards, The Midlands Hospitality Awards, and The Women In Tech Awards (among others). It’s wonderful to see a dedicated event championing Birmingham’s thriving creative scene.
Just to be a finalist in a category is a huge achievement in itself, when you look at the list of people and institutions in the room, which included Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, BBC Radio, The Alexandra Theatre, Services For Education and various local authorities. Many of the city’s favourite cultural offerings were represented.
So we are genuinely blown away to not only be in such prestigious company, but to also win the ‘Social Media Campaign Of The Year’ award.
This award is a testament to teamwork, collaboration, and the community of Birmingham Open Studios’s artists, stakeholders, sponsors and our ambassador. This was not a solo effort by any means, and the reason we receive such traction over 3 social media platforms is due to the tireless posting, promoting, tagging and sharing by everyone involved in the project – all 165 artists, groups and supporters.
Of course it helps when we have such notable sponsors that include BMAG, Joe Lycett as ambassador, and the love from accounts including I Choose Birmingham, Independent Birmingham, Birmingham Council, plus many more institutions, people and communities that genuinely care for the success of creatives in the city.
Thanks to everyone who firstly nominated us, and then voted for us. We are hoping this is the first of many more awards and achievements as we continue to grow, adapt, and continue to support Birmingham artists and makers.
